Replace processed deli meat with these 3 alternatives
Many of my clients are stuck for lunch ideas when they don’t want to use processed deli meat in their kid’s lunches.
Kids tend not to be a fan of eggs because they are stinky, and most schools have an allergy ban on nuts, peanut butter and almond butter.
Often parents can feel like there are few options to processed meats, but I am here to say that there are!
Here are 3 solutions that parents can use to add variety to their kid’s lunch:
Reinvent leftovers
Cook extra chicken for super and repurpose it for your kid’s lunches like these chicken, veggie and cheese kabobs.
Replace peanut butter sunbutter!
Sunbutter is easily made by blending sunflower seeds in a food processor or you can purchase pre-made at the store.
- Sunbutter can be used to make these nut-free protein energy bites that kids love. There are so many different combinations that your kids won’t get tired of them.
- Sunbutter and apple slices are also a great meal idea
Here is my recipe for Chocolate Oat Energy Bites
Chickpeas are a great source of protein!
- You can blend them up to make a hummus spread for sandwiches or crackers
- Roast them up for a crunchy addition to any lunch. You can make a variety of different flavours like bbq, ranch, honey cinnamon.
